Movement’s Twelve Fundamental Principles

Our movement is built on our Fundamental Principles that are the basis of all our decisions and actions. Our Principles help safeguard the continuity of our Movement to ensure that we act in a consistent and cohesive manner. We strongly believe our fundamental principles are at the heart of everything we do, our volunteers across the world are guided and governed by these principles and put them into action every day, making a difference to people and planet through sustainable performance.
There are Twelve Fundamental Principles of the Movement; as defined by the Conference, these fundamental principles are Humanitarianism, Volunteerism, Fraternalism, Moralism, Transparency, Impartiality, Self-sufficiency, Empowerment, Sustainability, Neutrality, Benevolence and Respect.

Humanitarianism

We will personally and actively engage when possible to the saving of human lives and or to alleviate human suffering during any humanitarian crisis or engage
ourselves in promoting human welfare and social reforms.

Moralism

We will practice a particular system of values and follow principles of good conduct, and where ever possible endeavor to distinguish between right and wrong
or good and bad behavior and practice what is right and good.

Volunteerism

We will voluntarily use our time and talents for charitable, educational, or other worthwhile activities, especially in our own community.

Fraternalism

We believe in being a society of men and women associated in brotherly and sisterly union, as for mutual aid or benefit.

Impartiality

We will act without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions.

Transparency

We will operate in such a way that it is easy for others to see what actions are performed.

Empowerment

We believe in the power of knowledge and its capacity to mobilize human beings to create a better world.

Sustainability

We believe that the needs of the present must never compromise the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Self-sufficiency

We believe in the ability to maintain oneself or itself without outside aid, having the capacity to provide for one’s own needs, and having an extreme confidence in one’s own capabilities or worth will act without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions.

Neutrality

We will endeavour not to take sides when we engage as activists attempting to resolve hostilities, disagreements, or controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature, being guided solely to give priority support for the weaker and vulnerable side.

Benevolence

We will endeavour to express kindness, well meaning, and goodwill intent to help those in need, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress, helping those individuals that are in most need.

Respect

We will hold total respect for all and everything.
